Sacramento Burger Battle part 1
The first ever Sacramento Burger Battle took place on September 19th at Raley Field. It was a great time and honestly it was an overwhelming experience. I donated some of my burger art to the charity raffle so I recieved VIP tickets which allowed me to enter the Battle 1 hour before general admission. I was beyond full in less than an hour. They had some of the best Burgers Sacramento has to offer and some of the best beer California has to offer. Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Crispin, and Ruhstaller were serving drinks and The Flaming Grill, Krush Burger, The Golden Bear, The Squeeze Inn, Grange, The Chef's Table, and others served burgers. The event was organized by Rodney Blackwell, pictured above wearing the knitted gold burger chain. He created this event so 100% of the proceeds go to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
One of my favorite burgers from Krush Burger actually ended up winning the People's Choice award and took home the golden burger trophy. The Chef's table won the Burger Battle and took home a championship belt for their burger which featured smoked brisket on top. Both of the winning burgers were great but I thought Krush Burger was better. There were so many great burgers it was hard for me to remember which one I preferred. I really enjoyed the Flaming Grill's lamb burger and the Golden Bears slider was also great. Overall this was a great event and it raised over $25,000 for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. Here's a video from CBS news covering the event, More in part 2
